Lee Strickland
Lee Strickland is an artist with a love of Tidewater Virginia’s saltwater and profusion of beautiful flowers. She paints in watercolor, a medium that is not always predictable and therefore can yield some happy surprises. Some of her work is in acrylic on canvas or board. Her subjects include landscapes, seascapes, lighthouses, shore birds, cats and various others. Flowers are some of her favorites and she often paints those that bloom in her Little Neck garden. She grew up in northern Minnesota and is still amazed at the explosion of color during spring in Virginia. She often takes her watercolors with her when traveling to tropical spots and on summer trips to the Minnesota farm of her childhood. Lee is in part self-taught, but has studied art at Tidewater Community College, the Art Center and various workshops. She is a member of Art Alliance, the Artists Gallery and Chesapeake Bay Watercolorist where she continues to learn from her talented friends. She has exhibited with these groups and in art shows such as the Boardwalk, Stockley Gardens, Artisans in the Park and Neptune Festival among others. Her solo exhibits include the gallery at Cape Henry Collegiate School, the Virginia Beach Central Library and Virginia Beach General Hospital. Lee mats and frames her work and over 500 original paintings fill her Little Neck studio and gallery. Prints of some of her paintings are available. She does commissioned work and shows her art by appointment. Please call her at 757-486-4297 or email to [email protected] |
