Barbara Mitchell Barbara began painting in the ‘70’s. She began with oils and acrylics painting decorative art and murals. However, once she tried watercolor she soon realized it was her medium of choice. She painted without benefit of training until she moved to Dallas, PA and studied with artist Sue Hand for 10 years. Until Barbara retired in 2013 from a career in banking, she mainly painted as a past time. Since retirement she has joined Southside Artists Association, Chesapeake Bay Watercolorist and Paint 4 Fun. She has furthered her experience through continued education with the TCC art program, workshops and lessons with local artists. Her involvement with art groups and artist friends has enriched her life and has become a new passion. Over the years, Barbara has been fortunate to exhibit her painting in many locations with art groups and individually. Barbara is a native of Taylorsville, NC and has been fortunate to have lived in many states all over the United States. She is currently a resident of Chesapeake, VA. She is a proud mother of two grown sons and a grandmother of five.
