Sue Lichacz started her watercolor journey in 2019 after retiring from 23 years of service as a Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Agent. She is a graduate of Allegheny College, Meadville PA, majoring in English & Political Science and minoring in Music-Vocal Performance (she also plays flute, piccolo, piano, saxophone & marimba). Sue is also an equestrian, making her spending money in her early years giving riding lessons. She initially worked as a Juvenile Probation Officer while receiving her Masters in Administration of Justice from Shippensburg University. She joined the FBI after graduation, spending an exciting and rewarding career traveling the world working Counterintelligence and Counterterrorism investigations. Her two sons, also accomplished equestrians, had graduated college, the horses were sold and she and the family dog were left at home contemplating the next stage of life. That is when Sue decided to embrace her artistic side. Sue is a native of Western Pennsylvania, but she and her husband, John (also a retired FBI Agent) have called Virginia Beach home since 1998. She enjoys spending time with her two grown sons & daughter-in-law, painting, rehabbing furniture, gardening (but NOT the weeding), and reading a good book. Sue's favorite part of painting with watercolors is the little surprises that often occur, creating the magic of this medium. Sue is a member of the Virginia Watercolor Society, Chesapeake Bay Watercolorists (Exhibition Co-chair 2024) and the Virginia Beach Art Center, where she teaches Watercolor classes.
